A Promise Left Unsaid- Prequel by ~emode:iconemode:

This is FanFiction!

Why did people always insist on begging? It’s not like he was going to kill them. He wasn’t even in the mood to hurt anybody.

“Please no! Not the children! Don’t hurt my babies! Take me intea-“

It was always the same. ‘Save the children, don’t hurt them blahblahblahblah.’ He was a youkai, but he didn’t hurt innocent people like that. He wouldn’t even attack another youkai unless it opposed him or gave him some other reason to kill it. But that didn’t happen often.

The woman grew more hysterical “No! Go away! Leave us alone! Stop!”
Jeez. This was so annoying. He felt the beginnings of a headache coming on. Like a fly, just close enough for you to hear it, but too far away for you to be in any power to crush it.  He decided to stop it now rather than let the woman die from hysterics.

“I came here for bread.” That stopped the woman where she was. While still holding on to her children, she eyed him untrustfully. “Bread? What would an, um, great youkai like you do with bread?”
He rubbed his temples. The same. Always. “I need bread to eat, ningen, now will you allow me to shop from your store or should I tear it down?” Well, he probably wouldn’t, but a threat always helped speed things along.

Frightened, the woman jumped up immediately and shoed her children in the back. She then climbed a short stool, which groaned with her weight, (noticeably above average) and brought down a loaf bread, which she wrapped in a cloth at the counter. Eyeing him suspiciously, she held out the bread the young master took a small bag of coins from his sleeve and thumbed out three pieces, holding them in the light for authorization that they would not explode, and handed them to the lady. He took his bread and left.

Kisakata chose to take small ally ways back out from the town.  Right now more hysteria was not what he needed. Besides, it would only slow him down. It was getting dark and he, though being old, and trusted, enough to command a small section of the army, was not allowed out past curfew.

While he was passing the entrance to a back an alleyway- behind the squealing woman’s shop- something caught his eye. Three large boys- teenage, probably- were crowded around a small form, kicking it. He did not usually interfere himself with the issues of humans, but he caught the drift of youkai blood amongst them. Not a live youkai, oh no, but blood, old blood. Obviously someone there had been mingling with a bleeding youkai, and though he could tell that it was low-level, it was certainly surprising. The village was very close to his Father’s domain, and youkai hardly came near it unless of equal status- this little human village was seated so close to the edge of his lands that it was perfectly safe from all youkai attacks. In fact, any attempt against it was considered a threat to the domain of the Dogs.

He stands at it’s entrance, confused. This young human had set out for to find a youkai, killed it, and returned to her- for it was definitely a girl- village? She was no hunter, not if she was being pummeled like so, and any human who killed a youkai was almost certainly going to be honored highly. But here she was, a youkai killer, a scrooge.

Curious. Curious- and highly confusing.

They had noticed him now, and turning slowly away from the curled form at their feet, they exchanged hesitant glances, before turning to one boy in particular. Kisakata turned now, to face the group, and waited patiently for them to either beg or scream.

The obvious leader of the gang turned to look at his comrades, who either avoided his gaze or stared in awe, and swallowed. He then peed his pants, and the whole gang ran.

Author's Comments

I just wanted to clarify that this is a work of (InuYasha) fanfiction, since I hardly write them.

I've actually been working on this for a while (Really this was written about a year ago and it's been sitting on my hard-drive ever since) but I thought I'd upload it since it's already written and I was so passionate about it when I started.

Kisakata is my name for the Unnamed One- Inu no Taisho.

Hopefully I'll update this one- though I'm having trouble deciding a major plot point right now.

Please point out any grammar or spelling mistakes, or anything else you find! Comments? Critique? Rant? I love them all! Also, Questions! Let me help you understand better!
